This thread is your go-to spot for info about our newest mystery.

Check in for fabric requirements and clues. Prize winners will be announced here as well. Post your progress here and join in the fun!

Basic info/What you need to know before joining:

I've designed this quilt pattern myself and done my very best with the instructions. Constructive feedback is always appreciated ("we should cut 8 units, not 12 as written") but unconstructive feedback is just plain old not nice.

Fabric requirements were calculated by EQ8 and should be pretty accurate.

My cutting instructions are for cutting, sewing, and then trimming slightly. I supply one method of constructing the units needed. If you choose a different method, your cutting and yardage may vary slightly. Similarly, if you don't like trimming after sewing, your cut sizes will vary.

There are 4 clues to this mystery and one will be released each week during June. Final construction and the big reveal will be the first week of July. If you complete your clue and post your progress prior to the next clue being posted, you'll be entered into the drawing for a prize.

Coming soon: cutting instructions for Clue #3 Friday, June 14

Ai - Yi - Yiiiiiii....call me crazy, but I'll be joining Heather's mystery . . . can't wait!!

EDIT:  Heather, I'm sorry, the timeline for your awesome Mystery quilt won't work for what's going on in my life right now.  I'm hoping to make it later this summer, not sure yet.  But thanks for doing this for our wonderful group of talented quilters.  I'll be watching from the sideline.  ~Gloria

Like Missie, I don't need another project. But I'll at least follow along and may not be able to resist.

Fabric Requirements:

There are two sizes available for this mystery - Wall Hanging 36" x 36" before borders and Lap Quilt 48" x 60" before borders.

The quilt requires 4 fabrics: 2 darks (A & B), 1 medium/dark (C), and 1 background (D). A, B, and C should be different colors with clear contrast (example: red, brown, and green for fall). Background should contrast nicely with each A, B, and C (could be creams, white-on-whites, light grey, etc.)

Sizes:

Wallhanging

36” x 36” before border

Lap

48” x 60” before border

Fabric A (dark)

3/8 yd

5/8 yd

Fabric B (dark)

3/8 yd

5/8 yd

Fabric C (medium or dark)

½ yd

7/8 yd

Fabric D (background)

¾ yd

1 5/8

Fabrics listed above are the total amount needed. If you choose scrappy, we'll be using pieces between 2 1/2" and 6".

http://www.quiltingaroundtheworld.com/gallery/fullsize.aspx?aid=41&pid=88638

My fabrics - cream tone-on-tone for background, orange & purple for A & B, gold for C and my border fabric that inspired my pull.

Hey Heather... do you have an approximate number for border yardage?  Also, on the border, what size do you recommend...3", 4", 5" ??

So, I decided I wanted to do Christmas.  I am going through my Christmas stash and come across my Farmyard Creations Fabric.  This company is now known as Sweetwater.   Some of Karla's first fabrics as Farmyard are primitive and wonderful.  Which is why they sit there and look lovely.   But these are going to be perfect!   I did not have enough background, so  I chose some Moda Grunge I had that will set off the other 3 colors.  I do have a piece of a background, and I plan to use it in a border somehow.

House guests this weekend....time to peek in here, follow along a little, but will have to come back to this next week.  I DON'T need this.  Have one mystery quilt unfinished, KT blocks to assemble (when I receive them) Sea Glass blocks to complete and mail (and then do something with them when I receive others back),  baby quilts to make for August great grandbaby, and, and, and.....  Wish one of our emojis was a juggler
