On QATW, we like to motivate each other to actually finish our projects, so let's get the annual celebration underway!  We're calling it...

      COMPLETED in

We want to see pictures of quilted projects that you finish this year, and for each one, you can earn points towards prizes. Your projects should need at least 8 hours of work in 2018 to reach the finished stage.  (If all that is left is stitching the binding to the back side, it was practically finished already, and we're still happy for you that it's now done, but for prize-giving purposes, let's not count those.)  We're here to applaud and reward projects that required some effort from you this year.

Finish 10 (or more) quilted projects for the year and your name will be entered in a drawing at the end of the year.

One (1) Point for a quilt finish - minimum size 40" x 40", quilted and bound

Two (2) Points for a quilt finish made of QATW swap blocks that you participated in (these bonus points are awarded year-end for grand prize)

These can be UFOs or new projects.

Small projects under the size of 40" x 40" will be tallied on the chart, and you will earn 1 year-end point for every 3 small finishes up to 3 points towards year-end grand prize.

There will be quarterly drawings for those with 3 or more finishes in the quarter.  Drawings will be April 1, July 1, October 1, and January 1 (2019).  Each quilter has FIVE chances to win something, one per quarter and the grand prize.

In the discussion to follow, please post a description of your finished project, the history of your progress on it, who it is for, the pattern name if you know it, its finished size (inches x inches), if it's a QATW swap, and then post a finished picture.

Post by the last day of the month.  We can't give you credit for a May finish if you post about it in June.

Please post in this discussion area.  Do not PM me.  I will update the chart from your posts here at least once a week.

Okay, let's get some projects DONE!  Sew, sew, sew!

I will make every effort to update this chart every 7-10 days. If by any chance I miss one of your posts, please, please, PLEASE send me a gentle prod to check post #... Thanks!   (last update November 11, 8:30 p.m. central)

Nancy here...  Since this is bound to become a very long discussion topic as the months roll on, I will be deleting comments posted after each quilt picture in the older months.  Today is Nov. 5, so I have deleted comments through September 30.  If you are looking back, the quilt pictures should be closer together now.  I hope that's okay with everyone.  I will not definitely not delete any current comments.

Thanks, Nancy. This is my first 2018 finish. It was a top and particially layered when I pulled it out to finish in 2018. It is just over 50 x 70 inches. I have sent it on to my only grandson. I have come to the conclusion that as I age I prefer the look of simpler designs. This may look fancy but that is because the snowflakes were Bali Handprint and not due to any effort on my part.

Jan 03 ,2018
Only had a morning run on the Yellow Box so had plenty of time to quilt today. Hubby went to make delivery so didn't have to make lunch. Instant Pot chops and baked potatoes on menu for the evening.

I quilted and quilted and quilted!!! But, got my new snowman throw done!!

January 04

Loaed another quilt on the mid-arm between routes then took a 'studio' break.

January 05, 2018

I had a date with the Yellow Box but no school today! Of course, they waited to call it off until I already had coffee made, showered/dressed/ and the car unthawed!! So, since I was up, I decided to start the quilting until the Hubby got up!  Took a 2 hr break to make a warm breakfest of baked oatmeal before he left for Texas in the bitter cold this Friday forenoon.

More quilting in the afternoon, as I'm NOT going anywhere in this cold!
I finished the quilting late Friday evening.
Added the binding on Saturday since I was still hibernating!!

This one was requested by Michelle and it's ready to adorn her bed...

This is a TOTAL Stash Buster - My first 2018 finish...large 55 x 55 called Fresh Diamonds and a free pattern.  The Backing is a woven, nubby kind of fabric...from a friend in Phx years ago.  Fred found it in my cabinet and we decided this was a perfect use for it.  For a friend who is starting over

This is the front

and here is the backing

It is in the washer right now.  Can't wait to see it all washed and dried.

After finishing my #11(Dresden Plates) on the UFO Challenge I decided to work on my #5 Mr. Malz (teacher) quilt.  I bought fabric from Globug off the trading post and started working on this Friday 12.  I just finished it tonight.  I love this way of making blocks, makes up a top quickly and plan to use it again in the future. DH and Grandpa are in bed and the kids are upstairs in their room, so - this is how i took the picture.  It measures 41x57.

I have a finish & it is crosssed off the UFO list too!!!

I had to sew backing to fit, then pin it, then quilt it, then trim it, then make binding, then attach binding, then hand sew binding to back...and now its waiting to go in washer...and find a home

I don't remember the name off hand...not a swap ()

I finished this today.  It is a combo of our Tools of the Trade swap, an additional block I made and the pattern Lets go Sew by Pat Sloan.  The big block is machine appliqued.  This wallhanging measures 33" square and as shown in the photo, it has found its home above my sewing machine.  I had both the swap blocks and Lets go Sew on my UFO list (I don't really have UFOs so listed projects I want to do) and with help from Donna and GG found a way to make two projects into one.  I started working on this on the 15th.  The last few months I have been spending most of my days sewing.

I finished Sweatshirt Jacket....

Thankfully I had all the fabric attached to sweatshirt from TN Retreat in Nov 2017...

So all I had to do was...sew shoulder seam attaching front to back...then attach the arms, sew the arm/side seams, attach cuffs and then cut the front opening...then make binding and attach it...using a fancy stitch...

Lots of pinning & cussing...but its warm!

First finish of 2018. I started this flannel quilt last year. It's 50 x 64 with a fleece backing. No batting. Can't take a picture in this house without a dog getting in the way. This is a warm lap quilt for myself. And the dogs of course.
