I have two swap items to mail to Florida so I think I'll hold off for a bit. The post office doesn't say they deliver thru hurricanes.

Evelyn I spent most of my life in Tornado Alley too. Never went to a shelter either. But several times wished I'd had one. I was in the May 3rd , 1999, tornados that hit Moore Oklahoma. The F5. It was a true war zone. Lucky just took our roof. I was a nurse at the time, we used our truck as an Oakie ambulance. Devastation. I've seen to many for comfort. I respect the weather for sure.

I just hope everyone is safe, we have several family members in Florida. Thank goodness they are evacuating. One big scarey storm!

For all of you in the massive storms path, praying that you stay safe with little damage to your property.  My Granddaughters and their other grandparents who live in Port St. Lucie are safe in North Carolina.

This is great! We currently are finished with our hurricane prep here at Linda and Lieca's, Lieca's dad's house and my dad's house. The weather is really nice at this time, but will be changing soon.

All of you are wonderful to keep all of us here in Florida in your prayers! I can honestly say i am starting to get very anxious about this. This will be my first hurricane that i will be personally experiencing. Let me tell you, I do not remember having "sit through a hurricane" on my bucket list. As I am able I will post and let you know how things are going.

Thank you again for a place to report in.
My sewing machine is calling me and today I hope to listen! Sally

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes.   We have the house sand bagged and shutters on the windows and cars in the garage.  We have the pool prepared and all the outside furniture inside.  Food and water plenty and gas in all the cars.  Flashlights, candles, battery-operated radio all ready.  Boat is ready to go just in case but I doubt that here in G-ville.

Youngest son lives in a water community in Tampa.  He is active duty Coast Guard so he is on call.  Then he and his neighbor, retired military, went throughout the community and installed hurricane shutters on houses of anyone who couldn't to it themselves.

We have never been in a hurricane but experienced two huge typhoons in Manila, Phillipines.  One was small but the other one was so big we ended up without power for one year.  No lie.

Fellow Floridians if need be, our house is available for anyone who needs a place to stay. We have several empty twin beds.
