Hi everyone.  As Donna mentioned at the library -- have the computer for an hour -- they are limiting it.  Just wanted to say hi.  We are still waiting for power, water & Internet.  Internet with one of the carriers I have at the house is to be restored tomorrow -- just hope we have power by then so I can use it.  We have our own well so without power we have no water.  Been using the pool so we have bathroom use.  It's been 4 days since we had a bath or was able to wash our hair.  So we are staying in a hotel tonight.  No internet there yet but maybe tonight they said.  Wow -- we depend too much on power and eletronics.

Jann, so glad you are OK...must be really inconvenient not to have bathroom use...electric power for other needs...and I agree we do rely on power, internets and electronics TOO much.  We are in the same boat where that's concerned.  Maybe it's time to go "off grid" for some of our "needs".  I hope/pray that things get restored and cleared up for you quickly.  Thankfully, you are safe and able to return home.

Jann- so glad there was no house damage.  I thought you would lose power with all the trees in your area.  Thank goodness for pool water to flush the toilet - I remember the days of wells.  DH laughed at me the first time we lost power in the city, I grew up with wells so didn't know I could still use the toilet - LOL.  I know you will enjoy that hotel tonight.

So glad our quilting friends weren't hurt. So ironic that Sally had to go through this just as she was settling in. Hope Jann gets her power back today! Hugs.

My concern, too, Evelyn...odd we haven't heard something by now.  We all need to do heavy praying that she is OK.

Well we just got our power back and internet is now working. Cell phone tower must have been damaged as it wasn't working until yesterday. We came through in not to bad a shape. Some roof damage, fences down, they needed replaced anyway, lots of tree damage, our neighbor lost their whole giant tree, just blown right out of the ground. Our big tree lost a slew of branches and most of her leaves and the beach had sand washed up on the sidewalk on the other side of A1A. Sat and Sunday night and early morning keep everyone up and nervous with all the tornado warnings going off every couple of hours. A couple of them set down a couple miles from us. power and cable went out early Sunday morning. I hated being so out of touch for so long.

So happy everyone else came through as well as they did, no injures just property damage which can be fixed.

Bonita! I'm so glad you're okay and life is getting back to normal. Too many bad, sad stories from this hurricane. Thanks for letting us know.

Yay, it's Bonita with good news! I hope your tree survives the injuries to it. Happy to hear your home & neighborhood escaped harder damage.

So glad to hear from you and that you came through it relatively unscathed, Bonita.  Thanks for the update, now I can quit worrying.

Thanks to everyone for your concern.  We decided to go on our vacation since at that time a definite path for Irma had not been determined.  We kept an eye on weather forecasts and Disney was very good at keeping their guests informed.  We spoke with many local residents who came to Disney because they believed it was safer than staying at home.

We were under curfew regulations starting on Saturday evening and all day Sunday and part of Monday.  The parks closed at 9 pm on Saturday and all activities were cancelled until Tuesday.  The resort provided entertainment for the kids and locals were able to bring their pets to stay at the hotel. The resort did not lose power and although there were many trees down, most things were back up and running on Tuesday. We bought water and some food for the room, but honestly it was not necessary.  Breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets were available as were box breakfasts, lunches and dinner.  We had some board games and played several games of Clue in the room -- my son and his gf were with us.  I also walked the halls, just for exercise!

Glad to hear all of our Florida friends are safe!
